I am finally making the upgrade from an old Thecus to a QNAP TS-473 nas. When setting up the QNAP I am able to create static, thick, or thin volumes.

It is not possible to convert a static volume to a thin or thick volume (also called “flexible volumes”).

A static volume is a simple and easy-to-use volume which contains all the available storage capacity on the disks/RAID selected to create the volume.

Unfortunately, yes, static volumes cannot be converted . You have to delete/remove the static volume and start over to create a thin or thick volume.

I have a TS-451A and I would like to know if it is possible to convert a thick single volume to static single volume without losing data.
